- Calgary Zoo
The Calgary Zoo offers zoological medicine externships to Senior veterinary students in their final year of study. Two to three externships are offered in the fall semester, and two to three in the winter semester, each from 4 to 8 weeks in length. Externs will assist the veterinary staff with clinical rounds, treatments, surgery, necropsies and laboratory work. Housing is available in a bachelor apartment located at the Animal Health Centre. - Granby Zoo
The Granby Zoo offers externships of 3-6 weeks’ duration to final year veterinary students. The Zoo houses a diverse collection of native and non-native fauna. Externs are expected to assist the veterinarian and veterinary technician in all aspects of zoo animal medicine. A working knowledge of French is highly desirable. Granby is located approximately 70 km east of Montreal, and within a half-hour drive of the Faculté de Médecine Vétérinaire in St-Hyacinthe. - Toronto Zoo
The Toronto Zoo offers zoological medicine externships to Senior veterinary students in their final year of study. Externship length is 3 to 8 weeks. Externs will assist the veterinary staff with treatments, surgery, necropsies and laboratory work. Housing is not provided, but reasonable housing is usually available near the zoo.
