Conservation medicine is an emerging discipline that involves the integration of veterinary medicine, public health and conservation biology in order to: advance biodiversity conservation; address issues associated with the inter-relationships between human, animal and ecosystem health; and study the effects of global environmental change on these health inter-relationships. There is increasing recognition that veterinarians have an important role to play within interdisciplinary teams working on environmental conservation projects. The Master of Veterinary Studies (Conservation Medicine) and the Postgraduate Certificate in Veterinary Conservation Medicine will provide veterinarians with training and expertise, which can be applied in private practice, zoos and wildlife conservation projects. The programs may be entirely coursework based or may involve a placement with a conservation project either in Australia or overseas. Further information on these postgraduate programs in conservation medicine can be accessed at http://wwwvet.murdoch.edu.au/vbs/vet/index.html Administrative queries related to these programs and the application process should be directed to: Ms Julie Barrett-Lennard, Continuing Veterinary Education, School of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences, Murdoch University E-mail: J.Barrett-Lennard@murdoch.edu.au
